Use Environment Analysis
Gathering information (pictures, video, audio, and written notes) about a work or home environment of interest, usually including the people that use or inhabit those spaces and their typical activities and interactions with the environment. Particular attention is paid to ways the environment might constrain or influence design and use of information and technology solutions.
What We Do
A wide variety of methods and information gathering techniques are employed, including observation and shadowing during which we make video/audio/picture records of the environments, and/or having people that use or inhabit the environments record these data (e.g., diaries, picture-collages, etc.).
What You Get
A multi-media report (text, audio, video, still-picture) that details the important features of the environment and illuminates how the environment’s characteristics:
- enable or challenge users’ desired activities
- influences their attitudes, motiviation, and ability to use different tools or solutions.
